So my account got actviated on the 18th and i used the porting option to keep my chatr number. So far I have not been able to use my PM SIM for anything and the status at the top left corner of my screen is always "NO SIM" on my iphone. The number I tried to port appears as my current number for PM in the self-serve section and I have not recieved a failure message of any kind indicatiing that it failed to port. Its been 3 - 4 days since I started the porting process and I have no idea whats going on.
I sent PM an email using the "Get Help" option, but I understand that they're dealing with a lot of people now, so I was wondering if any of you have recently ported from chatr and have encountered the same issue as I have. Is 3-4 days normal for chatr to port my number or is something wrong with this situation?
I should note that my chatr plan (the plan im transferring from) is still active and will deactivate on December 4th.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I think its important to let anyone who is reading this thread know that I have recieved a refund for my defective SIM. I was under the impression that these were non-refundable.
I am very grateful for the refund, it took me like 3 weeks to finally get things working. The process was very frustrating, but getting a refund without even requesting for one is just awesome and kind of makes up for it :).
Thanks @Saray_O and everyone at Public Mobile!

HI @Saray_O,
I ordered a new SIM because I believe it is defective. Instead of saying "no service" it says "No SIM" on the top left corner of my screen. My current SIM doesn't work no matter how many times I restart my phone. Iv'e tested other people's Public Mobile SIMS on my phone and theirs work fine without a need for a restart.
I ordered my second SIM on 11/22/2016 and Its still not here. Perhaps tomorrow? Who knows...

Hi @twiglaser,
I'm really sorry about this.
I can see another agent resubmitted your port request and it completed a couple of days ago. If you haven't already done so, could you reboot your phone?
Let me know if you're still having issues!

Your sitaution seems different than mine because you actually have some funcionality whereas as I can't even get my iphone to detect that I even have a sim in the phone.
I wish you the best of luck though.

I also tried to port my chatr number Sunday morning and haven't been able to receive any incoming calls or send/receive txt messages. Can only make outgoing calls and was able to activate data by chaging the apn settings. Sent private messags to mods, opened a ticket about not able to receive calls or send/receive txt but no response yet.
My chatr account and other phone is still active and all services still working on chatr. Looks like a lot of folks are having issues porting from chatr and rogers and there has been no response from mods. Looks like a waiting game.

Yes I've tried that as well. I don't think I will lose my port, but I may waste time because I might be restarting my porting procedure for no reason.
11-21-2016 08:22 PM
Have you tried doing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the home and power buttons?
I just don't want you to set up a new number and lose the number you ported in if you try what you just suggested.

Yes there are clear scratch lines on the SIM, just like my chatr sim and a lot of my credit/debit cards.
I think I will just add a new number and then see if the new number works. If thats thats the case then il try porting again see if it works the second time.

I guess at this point the only thing I can say is that you probalby need a new SIM if that's the case. When you take the SIM card out of the iPhone tray does it look like the contacts are touching at all(does the gold contact have a scratched line on it from the connection on the iPhone? I'm guessing that the contacts aren't touching for some reason.

Yes, Yes, and Yes 🙂

Is cellular data turned on?
Have you tried the steps from the Apple article here? https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201420

I don't know if your situation is applicable to mine but chatr is technically owned by rogers so it might be.
I'm considering on getting a new phone number just to skip this part but im willing to wait until friday for my porting to fix itself, otherwise its good bye to my sweet number.

Im having a similar issue it has been 5 days but I am with Rogers.None of the Mods are answering any pms and some people are getting helped out through Twitter which is unfair.

My phone is an iphone 5 and it is unlocked. I tested my friend's PM SIM which he activated a few days ago and that worked fine on my phone (i was making sure my phone was unlocked). I never tried my sim on someone elses phone though.
No I don't really have access to another phone right now.

What phone are you using and is it unlocked? Do you happen to have access to a second unlocked phone to test the PM SIM in?
