Porting Question

I'm trying to activate my account and want to transfer my Rogers cell number.  The last step is the Authorization for Transfer says "I authorize the transfer of my phone number to Public Mobile and the cancellation of my account with my previous service provider."

All I want is to transfer the number, I cannot cancel my account as we have 3 other cell phone plans and our internet/cable service.

Will it really cancel the account? or just the number?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

My best advice, I would contact Rogers to confirm the number you wish to transfer isn't the primary account holder number. I have seen here many times people complaining and upset because they ported over the primary account number and it cancelled the other two phones.

if the Rogers account still has other phone lines or service, that Rogers account won't be closed.

but if the number to be posted is the only service on the account, then it will be closed

The infromation that Public Mobile is providing you is assuming that you only have one phone number on the account at the other carrier. Otherwise, the information is incorrect.  Porting a phone number out only cancels the service at the other carrier for that one plan that is using the phone number that you send to another carrier.
