How do I manually port my number to a new provider from Public Mobile? My Public Mobile is currently not hooked up. I was told that it can be done manually.
Alternatively, I was going to renew with Public Mobile in order to transfer the number to another provider however, the $19 plan (the cheapest one) does not appear to be an option. The cheapest option is $30.
Any ideas?

hi @shawnnelles
this is not true. The CRTC rule is that account has to be active to be ported so you can receive the text to approve the port (this is to avoid sim fraud)
so sorry, you have to reactivate your account, maybe with the cheapest plan you see there. if $30 is the cheapest one, that that is the only choice.

The new company is Freedom Mobile. I have my public mobile SIM still and want to reactive it but when I go to change my phone plan to the cheapest one available at $19 I believe, it only shows the cheapest one to be $30?

Before you do anything else, @shawnnelles , by any chance are you moving to KOODO or TELUS?
If so, they can help draw the number from Public Mobile as they're all the same companies under the TELUS umbrella. Reach out to a customer support agent, and see what they can do. (little chatbot lower right)
If another company, you will need to activate a new SIM on the cheapest available plan if your current plan is indeed deactivated. When you log into your self-serve, can you access it?
If so, your SIM is usable to reinstate to the cheapest plan.
If not, you'll need to acquire a new SIM card, choose a plan, go through the whole activation plan on the PM App to get service up to port the number out.

Thanks. The new company said it could be ported out manually while suspended as long as there was no balance. If I can't do that, how do I activate at the cheapest plan?

HI @shawnnelles
your PM account must be active, and you need your PM sim card in the phone ready to receive the test to approve the port
so, you need to give your new carrier PM account number, PM will send you a text and you need to reply yes. If your PM account is suspended, sorry, you cannot port your line out until you pay and resume the service
