Porting Number - Authorization Name

Hello,

 

I am going to port a wireless number from Telus to PM. This number has my mother's name assigned to it, but it is under my Telus account (account number has my name as owner). So when filling out the porting form, which name should I use for "Authorization Name" field?

 

I've read through a number of posts, but couldn't find the answer.

When filling out the porting form you should be using the name on your Telus bill as the "Authorization Name"

Wow, thanks all for the overwhelming support and welcome!

 

I've been with PM (second line) for over a year now and have been satisfied with the service. Mostly using PM for additional data and backup line as I used to work up in Northern Alberta. We had been with Fido for over 20 years until enough is enough and switched to Telus for nearly 4 years now, and also had enough. There is still one month left on one of the Telus lines, hence the wait.

 

But you are all correct, I will instead wait until closer to contract end date to activate a new PM line. Hopefully there is some promo by then for 90-day Canada-wide plans with LTE data.

Hello zulu!!! This is my very post in this forum, as I am a very new user, so perhaps I should not be giving advice just yet!! But I will make a suggestion anyway!!

 

First of all if you are not going to port now, don't bother activating your SIM just yet. You will be paying for 2 services, and using one. You do not have to wait until the end of your Telus "contract month" to cancel, as it's pro-rated. But may I ask, what reason do you have for not porting now? Good luck, and welcome to Public Mobile, from a guy that's been here for all of 2 days!!

@zulu Do not close your Telus account. It must be active to transfer the number and will close automatically once the transfer is complete.

@zulu I would wait and activate PM closer to when you plan to port.  there is really no need to pay for two services, unless you will use both.  The service once going is (baring any activation issues) is the same as telus and Koodo.  

 

Just make sure yoru phone is unlocked or locked to telus or koodo.

That is perfect, this will allow your new plan to start and make sure there are no issues before the port.

Thanks! I will activate the sim with a PM random number for now and do the port after the contract is over in a month. Can't wait!

@@zulu @ what ever number is on the bill exactly as it is. In my case I included a misspelt last name. When I transfered.
