I am helping a friend ($referral$) sign up with Public Mobile. He wants to port his Bell landline to the new PM service. There is a DSL associated with the landline. When the landline is transferred and cancelled, will the internet be cancelled as well?
Does he need to contact Bell?

I think it would be wise to call your landline/dsl carrier. Just say ask them in the event of me porting my landline to another carrier but I want to keep the DSL activiie (or i want to drop the the DSL), what to I or the new carrier need to do to. This way you hope you cover all the bases when you make the switch.

Yes, he wants to keep the home internet service and I explained the dry loop charge to him.
I didn't know you could add additional notes on the porting number section when signing up.
Thanks for your help.

@charger ,
From personal experience....If you bundled with Bell for phone and Internet (& TV?), you may want to give Bell a call and see if your bill may be more if you drop the phone line and go only with Internet. If the bundled deal is a better price, they can give you a new landline phone number. I know a new landline phone number would probably be useless and unnecessary; but bundling services may save you money here.

@charger have your friend contact Bell or whomever the DSL comes from them, and ask them about it. Stay safe.

@charger When entering the information to port a landline number it gives you an option on what to do with your existing services. Just make sure he selects he option i want to keep my internet service that's combined with my account. You can also say that you want to keep your existing services tied to that number in the additional notes section. When porting the number Bell will see the request and keep his existing services active.
If he wants to terminate his DSL service he can select the option to get rid of it. Just a heads up Bell will charge him a dry loop fee if he wants to keep his DSL.
