keep your PM account opened. Get the PM account number from My Account
then activate line with new carrier and give them your phone number and PM account number for porting

@Tina67 If your looking to port out from public mobile to new provider you need to make sure your public mobile account is active leaving PM sim in the phone and start the porting process with new provider once you recieve the text from public mobile confirming you like to transfer number just reply YES to the text within 90 mins of receiving the text .
