@Farjy, If your renewal date is Feb 17, then you should be OK to change it now. You could also set it to change at the next renewal (which is Feb 17). You should not be charged for an extra 3 months. However, if you change immidiately, you don't get any credit for the last 1 or 2 days you have left.
