Physical Sim change to eSim

Hello folks!
Do I need to purchase an eSim first to change from a physical sim to an eSim?

I understand that only one sim at a time.

again, after you completed the purchase the new esim, the physical sim will be voided and no longer functional (only one sim for one account).  So, buy the esim whenever you are ready

And if you think you can have both sims working, sorry, no

What if I am going to do that on the same device. Just swapping a physical sim for an eSim, would that still work?

you buy the esim whenever you are ready (as the old one will be voided at the same time)

To buy new eSIM , first, download the app on your new phone.  Click Account from the bottom, then click Purchase SIM Card and select eSIM. 

Once it confirms your phone is eSIM compatible, click Pay $  and Install and follow the prompt to complete and purchase and install eSIM on your device
