Did you port your old number over to PM recently?

Yes, you can swap SIM cards through your PM account. But before you do that confirm your account is active and everything else works as expected: SMS/Internet.
Did you try your current SIM in another phone?

@Ccs1983 yes you cam. It is an easy switch. Yiu just need to buy a some card from Telus or Koodo store. Then login to My Account and request Change Sim card there. Easy process
but check out what we suggested first

Yes @Ccs1983 , it is possible to obtain a new sim card and swap that sim number on your My Account to keep all the same info and phone number as it is now.
But, sims rarely go bad. So it is likely other issues. Try any troubleshooting first, if all troubleshooting is failing ask CSA to reset or check your account prior to getting a new sim card.
But, trying the sim into another phone is a good test...as @softech mention to try.

@Ccs1983 - try restarting your phone.
Is this a new activation? And if so, did you port from another mobile provider..if you did, then make sure you insert the old provider's sim card to accept the SMS port approval.

@Ccs1983 first , try to login to My Account and confirm if status is Active. If not, it could be payment issue
If status is active, try to reboot the phone once.
Try to reset the sim card if still fails
Try to test your PM sim card in another phone
And try your phone in another area
