@Leew  you can port your phone number from another carrier to public mobile.  Yes you need your own phone. No contract.  30 day service at a time pre paid.  Leave when you want.

Yes, you will need to bring your own device.  Telus device would work with Public mobile network.  

However, if you have a phone contract with Telus, you will need to pay that off when you port over to Public mobile.  Telus owns Public mobile, but they are separate companies.
