Phone number port

I tried to port my phone number over from Virgin Mobile and now I have no service with my Public Mobile SIM card expect for data usage. My old Virgin Mobile SIM card still works and has service associate with the phone number that I tried to port over, but now my PM SIM can’t do anything. I’ve tried to just change the phone number to a brand new PM phone number but every time it says that the phone number change has failed.

It’s been a full 24 hours now since I initially tried to port my number over, and it initially came back saying port failed, but now my PM account says my phone number is the one I tried to port over, even though the number is still in service at Virgin Mobile. I’m very frustrated because I can’t even try to change my number to a brand new one and just start over

The part with your Public Mobile account showing your old number even though the port never happened, believe it or not, is normal.  Public Mobile immediately assigns the requested phone number to your account before the phone number transfer is approved or even if the request has been rejected.

In the meantime, you can keep using your old provider's sim card to make sure you don't miss out on anyone trying to contact you.

As @ShawnC13 was letting you know, you'll have to have a new number portability request submit it.  Have customer service do it for you (the user Moderator_Team).

In this case, that is unlikely to hapepn.  I say that because @bubbajay1999 has stated that the Public Mobile sim card doesn't work at all. Even before the phone number transfer has been processed, approved by the old provider, and finalized, the Public Mobile sim card should have automatically started working instantly.  The OP would just not have been able to receive incoming calls, SMS, and MMS on the Public Mobile sim card.  Since nothing works at all, there's most likely an account issues that needs to be fixed first and service was likely never provisioned to the customer's sim card.  Another possibility would be phone compatibility.  This isn't just a number porting issue or delay.

If your old sim is still working, then continue to use it until it become unprovisioned. Then the service on your PM will start to work as intended.
