I've been trying to change the card for my payments for over a month now but each time i try it says an error occurred so it hasn't let me. Is there another way to change it? I've been trying consistently over the past month and it always says an error occurred.

The only way to change your payment method is through the self serve portal. But are you continuing to try on a desktop computer or are you using the app?
If you’re on a computer you can try to clear your cache and browser data and then try again. An incognito window is also worth trying or even a different browser than you were using previously.
If using a desktop computer continues to give you issues I would recommend trying to change the payment method using the Public Mobile app.
