Overcharged or price increase

how come since last summer, I see Public Mobile charges $2.41 more.  But my plan seems to be the same, $25 plan.  It does not look like a price hike but what is that ? I never overuse my data and my calling is unlimited and I never call Long Distance. That's like more than $20 altogether.   How can I get that money back?

thanks.  yes, I am in Saskatchewan.  So, it is all because of my government?  $2.41 extra from my $25 plan is a lot, almost 10%.  And I see there are other governments charging less and some not even charging it.  Why I need to pay extra for a service I never use.  Shouldn't they charge only people on use that?

The change isn't because of the government.  Such fees have been charged to cell phone companies for many years, but there's nothing that says that the carrier has to charge it to the customer.  Public Mobile has started to pass this fee on to the customers.  Also, phone companies are not allowed to charge a per call fee for making such an emergency call.

@ngajqknzo You should count yourself fortunate to never need 911 service. Look at it like insurance. Most people never need to use it but it's there when you need it.

@ngajqknzo

You are in SK? $2.41 = $2.17 + tax.  So , that is E911 fees in SK

Please note that from July 31 2025, PM started collecting E911 Fees for provincial governments for those provinces that have the charge (AB, NB, NF, NS, NWT, PEI, QB, SK):

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/New-Government-Mandated-9-1-1-Tax-to-be...

The charge is based on the area code of the phone number.  You can find out more and the exact charge for your province here:

$24 plan does not have any price change at all

You see the $2.41 extra every month? Or one time?
