Why is my top screen saying no service after I have paid for my plan?

Does your service still work? Can you call/text, etc? Did you just activate service or are you an existing customer?
Sometimes messages on the self-serve screen may occur during renewals which cause undue alarm. These will go away within hours of the renewal.
If your service works, you're good to go.

... Also try power down your phone, pull the SIM out for a minute or two before putting it back and powering back it
If still failed, logon to the My Account and confirm the current SIM # showing there is same as the SIM you have

Check your account status. Try rebooting your phone.
Switch the SIM into another phone to see if its the phone or a SIM problem. If its the phone reset your network settings and restart your phone if it doesn't automatically do so.
If its the SIM try the lost/ stolen trick to reset your service.
From your self service account enable the lost/ stolen feature log out, wait 5 minutes, log in and take it off. Log out and restart your phone.
