No VOLTE or 5G

Hello,

I just activated on November 11 and I noticed that VOLTE and 5G are missing in my settings.  I have a Samsung S20 5G FE and had both options with Rogers.  How do I get those settings back?  I do have the 5G plan with Public Mobile.   Thank you.

Yes, the public mobile network does not support VOLTE and 5G on Samsung S20 FE 5G. Switch to other carriers. I switched to Freedom Mobile and their network supports VOLTE and 5G on this device.

@Square1

Great that you are satisfied with the PM service but I suspect that it is the firmware issue with the Samsung S20 5G FE in conflict with PM settings. Surprised that it showed up on Rogers network but comparing the prices between PM and Rogers…I think you will be happy with PM!

Oh, so great to hear that! 275 Mbps is quite high, above the one promised, 250 MBps haha
So I guess that is a good thing! Getting VoLTE improves the calling experience, so I feel it is great to see that you are making the best out of it!
Good luck & keep us posted if you see something else later on!

For some more volte evidence, go to settings, about phone, status information, sim card status - and look for mobile voice network type. It will likely be showing LTE. Make a call and while staying on it return to the status screen and see if it changed to something other than LTE.

Thank you for the replies.  I did a speed test and received a score of 275mbps.  So I'm satisfied that I have 5G speeds just not the icon.  As for VOLTE, my call was clear and LTE was on my display.  I'm satisfied that I have VOLTE.  Thank you for the help.

Hey
Many people mentioned here about 5G & VoLTE. Its true that for many phones, if not Canadian or any other operator, it is really hard to get all the features, I used to have a Motorola device from a different country, but, after I got a Canadian Motorola, most of the network features, like LTE+ or VoLTE, or just 5G, not 5G+, it just works fine
So, I feel it is hard to comment on anything as such!
Feel free to talk to the CS agent, and see, if they have something to add to what all people are saying out here! There might be some way!
Cheers!

Unfortunately, the Samsung S20 5G FE is not on PM list of VoLTE compatible devices:

As for the 5G, there have been a lot of posting about the 5G connectivity on the Samsung S20 5G FE on this Community. It seems that this is an old Samsung phone that does show 5G on the display but conduct a speed test.

@Square1 I don't believe your phone is compatible with VoLTE on PM's network, but to verify you can:

1) Temporarily turn wifi off

2) Ensure you are connected to the 4G/LTE network

3) Make a phone call and watch the top of your screen. If after the call connects you're still connected to 4G/LTE, you have VoLTE. If the phone drops to 3G when you make a call, you don't.

Unfortunately PM has a rather restrictive list of compatible devices for VoLTE since they launched it early this year.

As for 5G, I'm not as familiar with whether you should expect that to work on your device or not. Even if it doesn't, you'll still get 5G speed on the 4G network.
