New phone

I'm buying an unlocked phone that was with Public. Can I take the sim card out of my existing phone and put it in the new one and just continue on or is there more I need to do?

If the device hasn't been reset / wiped, I'd perform a factory reset first.

Yes, as long as the phone is unlocked and compatible with the telus network
