I’m switching from Bell and looking to get started. I have a SIM card. Wondering how to get started and if the bonus 3GB promotion is still available when choosing the $25 or $40 plan? I also would like to keep my phone number.

@spaceboyED You may port-in your Bell number during activation, or after activating PM with a temporary number. The latter is slightly safer as it ensures your PM account is fully functional but does require contacting the moderators rather than doing it yourself from your account.

@mike_410 You should allow several days in case of delays due to porting or other issues. Don't switch on the last day or two of your current service as your account has to be active in order for a successful port of your number from your current provider to PM.
Make sure your phone is compatible with Telus network and unlocked.
Koodo/PC Mobile prepaid accounts require porting to be done via moderators only. All other ports can be done at time of activation and if you don't do it at activation then you will need to submit a ticket to moderators to do it for you.

Hello @spaceboyED ,
I ported my Bell home phone (landline) to Public Mobile. You can do the whole thing on the activation page.
How to Activate:
https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-to-Activate/ta-p/251824
Follow these instructions and it should go as smoothly as my activation did. The porting took about 3 days to complete for me.
Leave your Bell account (mobile or landline) ACTIVE. Since you can only port active account/phone numbers.
If it is a cell phone it could be a few hours to complete the port. If a landline it could take a few days (more rarely up to 7 days).
FYI: Incoming calls are the last to port. So if this is a cell, keep using your Bell SIM card to receive calls, then when that stops you know the port is complete.
As for the bonus promo, not sure. Check the details of it.
Welcome!

You can port your phone# over to PM.
To complete your port-in request, please open our chatbot via this link and type in “port request” to be put in touch with a Moderator.

Right up top where it says Get Started 🙂
You can transfer your number if the other account is active.
If you have a referral code you can get a $10 credit after activation.
Not sure about the 3GB. iirc it was for in-store London Drugs activations.
