New SIM card shows invalid message

Hi, We signed up with Public Mobil a week or so ago but still can't make calls because the brand new sim card isn't working .When we put the sim card number in, it says invalid sim.  So we've paid for a week of usage and have gotten no service yet.

The first thing you should do is contact the phones previous carrier/network provider. The phone may need to be carrier unlocked in order for the new sim to be used. If that does not resolve the issue than you may need to contact customer service for the phone manufacturer to help resolve the problem.

In addition to what others have said, are you sure your phone is capable of 3G/4G? Old "2G" phones are incompatible with Telus/Koodo/Public Mobile.  The next step is to make sure the 3G/4G bands on your phone are supported by Public Mobile.

You can check that the band support on your phone against Telus/Koodo/Public Mobile here:

And like others said, make sure your phone is unlocked.  If you had Fido, Bell, Rogers, etc... before you may need to call them to unlock your phone.  Pretty sure they should do it for free.

Hope this helps! 😄

Hey there!

Did you activate your SIM online? If not, that could be the problem. In that case just head over here: https://activate.publicmobile.ca

If you did activate your SIM, your phone might not be unlocked. If it's not unlcoked, you can call your last mobile company who will (usually) unlock it for free.

If both of those solutions won't work, it is possible that your SIM card may be damaged, in which case you'd have to buy a new one (unless you contact PM and they give you a free one due to the faulty one).

Hope this helps!

Are you sure your phone is unlocked?

Sim could also be damaged. Can you try sim in a different phone?
