Need to cancel a port number request

I started the process to move my wife's phone number over to a new public mobile sim. Then we realized that her phone was permanently locked to Rogers and can not be unlocked.  Her old sim is still working at the moment, but I want to stop the port of the number if it is not too late. Her credit card has been charged, so I'm assuming the process has been started. We did encounter an error as we were signing up - so her public mobile account does not even work, but that is OK since she can not use it. I'm new here myself, not sure who to contact for this type of support.

Hmmm, I hadn't read that part about SpeakOut/Rogers, a few posts earlier..... I'd be inclined to contact LG, and see what they can do.

I wonder if that text, "This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked" is true, or simply a more ominous sounding version of the typical prompt to unlock a phone..... it DOES seem like it'd likely be true, but seems like a little overkill.

Nah, since all Canadian providers have been mandated to provide unlock codes to previously locked devices, I'm pretty sure that unless this particular case involves some odd set of circumstances, Rogers will provide the unlock code upon request.

I previously mentioned(in other threads) that I'd called Rogers to unlock some phones, but upon further reflection on the topic, I remembered that I logged into my wife's account at the time, and did an online live chat, and they had no problem, whatsoever, in providing unlock codes for two previously locked phones, and also told me that a 3rd phone on the account was already unlocked.

I also had zero problem in getting an unlock code from Koodo for my current phone.

The only issues I've read about, is that apparently Bell is a bit "difficult" to get to provide unlock codes.

could be a case as well where other attempts to unlock the device were unsuccessful and resulted in a permanent hard lock of the device, though I'm unsure if that's the case personally, you never know.

Yes, from what I've read, this LG G6 phone gives 10 attempts to enter the unlock pin code, then it continues to say  "This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked".  Rogers says they can not help, maybe if I ship it in to them and go without a phone for a week or so.  So my wife is now wanting to stick with her old plan for now. Thanks!

Why don't you contact LG https://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/contactus. They will ask you a few questions and then will send you the unlock code. You might need it. If you can't stop the port.

We were using speakout 7-11 sims, which use Rogers network.  But when I put another sim in it it says "This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked".  Rogers is not able to unlock the phone, they say I either have to send it in to them, or contact LG.  So I think she will just stick with speakout until she gets a new phone.

Is the phone locked into a plan with Rogers?  Would they allow this number to be ported back? Or would they just charge the early termination fee? If not, you can get it unlocked as stated above by either asking Rogers or contacting the manufacturer.

You can get her phone unlocked FREE by Rogers after porting.

Is your wife have second thought about switching to PM?

Porting from Rogers takes about 30 miniutes.  By the time, moderator responds to your request, your wife's number already ported.

Edit: You can call Rogers ASAP to stop releasing her number to PM.
