Hey everyone,
So, I've got a Nokia 2.1 (TA-1093) and been using that TextNow service for ages, but recently, got a Public mobile SIM- confirmed compatibility check before purchase and for some reason can't make phone calls from the call app.
Texts, Data (+chrome works) and even incoming calls I can get. But no outgoing. Here's what it looks like in my SIM status settings window:
……..………………….
Network
Public Mobile
Mobile number on SIM
(x-xxx-xxx-xxxx my #)
Mobile network state
Disconnected
Service Status
In service
Signal strength
-109 dBm 31 asu
Mobile voice network type
4G
Mobile data network type
4G
Roaming
Not roaming
EID
unknown
…………………………...
I've looked into every setting, function and solution on the Public mobile sites, and through my phone, and can't find anyone or any post with the same specific problem. Please help me, this TextNow app is killing my phones ram. and Ive paid for a $25 monthly plan with PM so calls are expected. I've reset the network settings, I've put the sim in a different phone, ive done everything but a full factory reset.
I'm not the original owner, but it wasn't network locked or anything when I got it from my friend. Its Android 9.0. Oh, and its the Google Go version.
Thanks for your time.

@tecknodestructo Telus owns both PM and Koodo. And to really make the SIM read correctly on your wife's Samsung, you would need to rest her network and restart the phone. What's the make and model of your phone? Thanks.

@tecknodestructo it sound like your SIM didn't provision properly. Try these
tricks to restart/ reset your phone service. You could try in order:
1. Restarting your phone. Turn your phone off, wait 30 seconds and restart.
2.Putting your phone on aeroplane mode for 5 minutes. Take it off and restart.
3.From your self service account enable the lost/ stolen feature log out, wait 5 minutes, log in and take it off. Log out and restart your phone.
4. Add a one time payment and of $2 To your account and restart your phone .
If these tricks don't work contact a moderator and ask them to reset your SIM. Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen. This connects to the autobot Simon. Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one (CLICK on "Account specific question" and "No I want a human" and "Submit a ticket Click me!")
Once connected, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password. Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent. Also keep an eye on the envelope, the mods answer will show up there. Once it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing allows the process to continue.
If you need to, you can also enable email notification to receive a private message notification sent to your email. Go into your community account > my settings > PREFERENCES > Private Messenger > enable "Receive email notifications for new private messages" > Save
Welcome to PM. Stay safe.

No transfer of old # - didn't have one, except from TextNow, but I never bought any account or minutes with them. just used the free service. ive restarted the phone like 20x, and taken battery out almost every time. I can check the sim in other phone thing right now, 2 min, and ill let you know what I find.
Thanks

Did you port (transfer) your phone# to PM? Try rebooting your phone ? Does your sim work in another phone ? Try the network reset. If you still need assistance then submit a ticket by clicking on the question mark on the bottom right.
