Hi,
Why am I still charged the Quebec taxes on my plan now that I live in New Brunswick? I moved to New Brunswick in August 2024.

Thank you for the responses I received. I understand 🙂

When Public Mobile charges your credit card directly, they will apply taxes based on the location of your phone number. A workaround for this without having to change your phone number, is to purchase Public Mobile payment vouchers in your new province at a Gas Station, Grocery Store, Shoppers drug mart etc, where the local tax will be applied at point of sale. This is especially good if you move to or visit Alberta or any of the territories where only GST is applied at point of sale. 🙂

Public mobile charges their mobile accounts based on the area code of the phone number. So, if you kept your Quebec phone number when you moved to NB, you will be charged the Quebec taxes.
If you want to avoid QB taxes, you can change your phone number to a New Brunswick number.
