I just got on Public Mobile's network. I did a SpeedTest in Midtown Toronto and got 54.17 Mbps down and 27.91 Mbps up with 18 ping.

What's with this need for speed with everyone? Apart from actually doing a speed test and wasting data, can anyone really tell in normal usage what speeds they are getting? In the roughly 4 months I have personally not encountered speeds that would knock anyone's socks off. In fact where I am located this week, Rogers hspa+ beats Bell LTE on speed. Yet, I can't complain at all about the serve as it just works.

I get around 40 mbps in St. John's. 🙂

Currently, speeds appear to be limited by Telus's core network to 60-70 Mbps. There is no difference in terms of location. More info here:

I never seem to get the speeds otehrs get even in the downtown core, but it's still fast enough for me.

I just had 39 Mbps in Toronto here, but it's going to vary considerably even within the same location at different times.
