My phone was stolen. I cannot set up my account as I cannot recieve the text code. Can I just buy another sim for a different phone and keep the same number?

If you activated online than you have the account
Try resetting the password, try locating the welcome message to know your username

@goingplacesnow this is why it's important to find out whether you activated in store or online on your own if you did it yourself your account is already set up you can access it to change your sim card and report your phone lost or stolen within your account. You can then decide if you think there is no hope of getting it back to have the moderators blacklist it for you.

I don’t recall having a text code while setting up my account. Does every new application for a new account require a text code? I thought you could set up an account with a SIM only?

Did you activate your SIM card in-store @goingplacesnow ? Since you can't set up your self service account, the only thing I can come up with is to contact the moderators and ask them to place your phone on the national blacklist.
I don't know if this is possible, but you can ask them to send you via private message a temporary phone number validation code so that you could set up your self service account. From within your self service account follow @Anonymous 's suggestion to place your phone on lost/ stolen.
Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen. This connects to the autobot Simon. Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one (CLICK on account specific question and human and submit a ticket)
Once you get the new SIM card, take your phone off of lost/stolen, change your SIM number and restart your phone.

You can log into your self serve account and mark your phone as lost. Purchase a new and click on change sim.

Here is the link to create a ticket through SIMon: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help ->Click on Chat with Simon on the line "ask me something" write "moderator" -> then click on "account specific question" -> afterward click on "no, I want a human" -> finally you will see an answer "submit a ticket Click me!"

Yes. In the meantime, use the Lost/Stolen feature to disable your account so the thief can't use it. Then re-enable it and use the Change SIM feature to have your account on a different phone.
