Hello there! Just got a kids smart watch from Amazon. Having some issues getting the data connection to work. I've already dug around and found the SMS command to set the APN settings but no luck making it work yet. For now, I'm wondering why I can call the watch, text it, the watch can text back, but when I try to make a voice call from it, the error I get says "Mobile network not available". Just wondering if the watch is using 3G to make voice calls and Public's network is preventing that or perhaps the device profile needs to be reset? Can some kind soul shed some light on this and help me out, please?

@BKNS27 OP already have the watch partially working (text). It sound like one with physical sim and designed like a phone (not special watch design like Apple Watch or Samsung watch that needs special backend support)
@M4GD1 your Kids smart likely won't work well
First, the kids smart work cannot use VoLTE. It might be able to use 3G for voice, but likely due to the limited bands, the voice call won't be reliable. And even it works now, 3G will end in March 2027, and it will stop working after then (due to the fact that it won't be compatible with PM's VoLTE network)
Some technical info, for the Kid's watch voice to work, it has to have both band 2 (1900) and band 5 (800)
For data to work on 4G, it has be have at least to have B4 (2100) or B66 (1700) and B12(700) or band 17 (700)

Unfortunately, PM doesn’t support smart watches. Not even Apple or Samsung.
Hate to break the bad news. PM is a 3rd tier carrier of Telus that doesn’t have all the options that the upper tier carrier have. Try contacting Koodo to see if it will work with them.
