Just ordered a sim card can i select my rate plan before i get the sim card?

I just oedered my sim card and im wondering if i can choose my rate plan before i get the sim card.

It depends where you live on how quick the delivery is, and unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't arrive.  For your concern on the expiring potential of the $40 plan, I agree with the suggestion to go get a SIM card locally.  When the one in the mail arrives, hold it for a spare, or give it to a friend to sign up also!

@coolvehiclefan, you'll need the SIM card during your activation, you cannot open an account without the SIM Card Numbers.  When creating your account you start with profile info, then SIM Card Number, then you can choose your plan and select a phone number.  If you're porting then it'll ask you what the phone number is that you're porting, the provider it's currently with and the account number associated with the number.  

If you don't want to wait for the mailed SIM then you can go to one of the retail locations that now provides PM SIMs, such as London Drugs, WOW, and Walmart (however Walmart can be a bit tricky sometimes.

Ok how long is the $40 4.5gb 3G plan being offered for?

You need the SIM number in the initial set up of the account. So no.

Obviously you can pre-decide which plan you want for when you get the SIM.
