I picked up a wrong local area code and I can not change my phone number.

@marcelcar  - if you already changed your number 4 times in a 30 day period, wait another 30 days to try again.

When you do, if you do not see the area code you wish to have, continue to refresh the city selected or choose surrounding areas of that city, as they will likely have options you may like also.

You should be able to change your number 4 times a month for free, so it sounds like a browser issue, etc. so clear cache and/or browsers
