@Danjohnson  Another alternative is to go one of those cell phone kioks in the mall and they can usually unlock just about any phone for $10-20, depending on the phone. Let us know how it goes!

@Danjohnson  You need to get that from the previous provider or the manufacturer. If not possible maybe check eBay for an unlocking service.

What make, model, carrier and country of purchase ?

What make and model? Keep in mind USA does not have the same free unlock policy as we have in Canada. I found them hard to deal with as most on the phones are clueless. Could not top up from Canada using a Canadian credit card.
