I cannot port out my number

I am a public mobile subscriber trying to port out my number to freedom mobile. But they are saying that my number is not within their service area. and that it cannot be ported to Freedom. Is there a solution to this?

Well, I went into Walmart and had the person in the cell department to start the process with Koodo on their computer. We went as far as the step where my phone number was checked and the it said that my number wasn't eligible. She was very surprised but there was nothing she could have done.

I also had no luck with Koodo. I actually went to a store in person and they were unable to port my number either. It's baffling because Koodo and Public Mobile are both associated with Telus.

Bell/Virgin/Lucky are able to port my number. At least I have some options lol.

Koodo absolutely can port in a phone number from Public Mobile.  In fact, your Public Mobile number can even be in suspension and ported to Koodo Mobile.

hi @jefftsai

Freedom has coverage pretty much everywhere now, or at least as good as Roger's

the reason for not able to transfer is the city where your phone number belongs to.  They have something call Rate Center.  The number that your Rate Center at, Freedom does not have it there, so you cannot port to Freedom

I guess so. They don't have a solution either unfortunately.

Hello

Not every number can be ported to Freedom Mobile, as certain limitations exist, such as an inactive account with the previous provider or a number with an area code outside of Freedom Mobile's coverage area. Additionally, the porting process requires that the number is still active. Sounds like you may have an unsupported area code.

It does have coverage where I live. I activated the service this morning to make sure that it works.

@jefftsai

You should be able to port out if your account is still active.
You should talk to Freedom about their coverage area. It sounds Freedom doesn’t have cell coverage/towers in your area.
