I can't turn on my phone

I turned off my phone for an update.  Now it won't restart.  How can I get in touch with a person at Public?

@abwh

There's a flash sale for a google pixel 3a from B&H....$220 all in w/shipping, taxes and duties. The sale for the moto g7+ just ended but will go on again at $119 US or $165 cdn all in.

 @abwh : So much for Certified Pre-Owned. But hey...you have a year warranty. Keep the SIM. You can use it in a temporary phone until the replacement arrives and then have that SIM as a spare (assuming they send you another on a warranty replacement)

Edit: Now I see why you came here asking.

@abwh

Well that's a bummer with your "new" phone. Here's the help article to return your phone.

Hmm... the last/easiest thing is just to plug it into the charger and leave it for an hour...

Either you'll see life (possibly when you tap the Power button) or not.  Sorry to hear it may be a gonner!  😞

Thank you for your help but I'm giving up.

Just delivered from Public Mobile.  Refurbished.  Hasn't been wet.  Can't be opened to remove battery - by me anyway.

@abwh

Its not looking promising. Where did you get the phone?

 @abwh : So what happens when you plug it into a charger? Anything light up? Did it get wet recently? Does the back open like an older phone with a battery? Unfortunately not many phones have removable batteries these days.

Thanks again but I've tried this several times and it's not working.  I suspect this is a problem we can't resolve and I'll have to get the phone replaced.

@abwh

Okay try this...

Forced Restart

If the device is unresponsive or frozen, displays a blank or black screen, or will not respond when the power button is pressed, perform a forced restart.

Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for 10-20  seconds. The device will restart and go through the boot-up sequence.

Note: The forced restart does not delete any data stored on the phone.

Last time I looked charge was more than half full.

@abwh

Hmmm....how much battery did it have before you started the update?

 @abwh : Is there no tiny barely visible model number on the back or something?

Did you get the phone from Public Mobile? Or just somewhere? Seems this isn't a Public Mobile problem but certainly lots of people here willing to help you out.

Thank you for your help but I've tried everything you've mentioned and the phone won't start.  No lights/leds either.

@abwh

Try this and report back if it works....

Press and hold the Power button for approximately 10 seconds or until the device power cycles. If the device doesn't power on or is unresponsive, attempt the following:

  1. Plug the device into a manufacturer approved wall charger and wait 1-2 minutes.

     The LED indicator should glow solid amber/red.

     Third-party chargers may not work to recover the device when it is in a no power state. When attempting to recover a device that won't power on, only use the included wall charger to ensure best results.
  2. If the LED indicator doesn't light up after 1-2 minutes, move the wall charger to a different outlet to ensure the issue isn't with the outlet.
  3. If the device still doesn't power on, ensure it's still connected to the wall charger then press and hold the Power button (bottom button on the right-edge) and Volume down button (located above the Power button) for 1-2 minutes.
  4. If the device still doesn't power on, repeat steps 1-3 using a different charger.

I've tried to hold the power and volume buttons down at the same time.

I just got this phone a couple of hours ago.  It's a Motorola, not sure what model.

@abwh

What is the make and model of your phone? Each phone can have a different restart method. But make sure you have at least 50% battery and generally you will have to hold the power and volume down button until you get the phone brands logo come up. But it would be better to tell us your make and model first.
