I Was Sim-Jacked - Is there a way to stay protected?

Just found out my SIM was changed, or ported to another carrier, not sure but earlier today I lost access to service. Within an hour someone had taken money from my PayPal account.

Bank info has been put on hold and Paypal will refund me, but what can I do to prevent this from happening again?

I'm pretty sure my Public Mobile password was compromised (as well as several others). I didn't receive a text message about confirming anything. Can I set a Pin Number or something to provide extra protection somewhere?

Hi @dannyjfong

Also, (Danny?) recommend not using any part of your real name in any online profile names, if you are.

if you would like some security I suggest following these instructions

create an email strictly for public mobile(you will need moderators to change this for you)
change your name and address on your self serve account
don't use your personal email password for the pm website
don't use a password manager(chrome, safari, etc. browsers
don't use your cellphone number as a 2fa for banks, PayPal etc

Your best protection is a good password.  Your Public Mobile account already has a PIN but there isn't any way to get the self serve system to require both your password and PIN to log in.
