I'm having a hard time understanding my total data usage per month in a billing period. I'd like to see what I'm averaging and if I've ever been close to exceeding my data plan.

You can look at the Usage History in self service but that is not very helpful. Easiest way is to make a spreadsheet and the day before renewal note how much data you used for that cycle from the main self service page.

No. You can't do that in your Pm account. Sorry
You'll need to get an app on your phone to be able to do that.

You can also check your usage in your phone, under data usage and compare to usage in your account.
Make sure that you also set the start date for data usage in your phone to the start date of your PM plan. Usages should be pretty close that way. That's what I do sometimes.

Log into self service and you will be able to see your data usage. Clear your browser cache and go incognito. You should also click on the spinner icon in self service to refresh the page.
