I was given an Iphone (I hate it) but can't figure out how to actually stop a process from running. On andriod you would go into applications, click the app and hit "Force Stop" and it would actually kill the process.
On the iphone, I double click the home button, it brings up app selector and I swipe up, that is supposed to close the app, but I know the app is still running because I am still getting notifications from that app. When you google it, every single page is the same explanation, app selector, swipe up. (lies)
Is there a way to actually kill a process without installing 3rd party software? The swipe up technique does not actually work.

@stonechucker wrote:@RobertQc is there an internal to the app setting to login/out that you need to perform?
@stonechuckerThe app has to be "paired" in a sense. If you log off, you have to go through a complicated process.

Can you remove the offending app? Or do you like it?
@AnonymousThe app is required. It's work related. I might be meeting up with someone on shift and need facebook messenger or use my location for the map to go somewhere... so I need to still use location / data.
In the end it doesn't really matter, I know I won't end up using apple. I was trying to see if I could easily do everything I wanted with an apple device but its an uphill battle. #youtubeiphone6sinfirepit

@stonechuckerThanks that would be good for the notification, but this app logs other data, like location / route data. It feeds location data to home base, when I force close the app the logging system on server side shows you as the last known point until otherwise. It needs to actually be closed for this to work.

3rd party app, would not re-open on its own like a system app until relaunched. Do not want to uninstall, want to be able to close to hide online status at will, and re-open as necessary, only when I choose. But apparently this is not possible on apple without 3rd party.

An apple fan gave it to me because they know I dislike apple. cyanogenmod4lyfe (I know, I know, LineageOS now) I buy my phones based on this official compatibility list https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

What process/app are you referring to?
Is it an important one? You can uninstall the app if not needed.
