Hey guys, I'm new here. I signed up for Public Mobile a month ago and I noticed that I was charged twice on activation and despite indicating that I did not want automatic withdrawal monthly on my visa debit, today PM has charged me automatically from the card that I used for activation for this coming month's service. I don't want to continue the service- I wanted to see how the first month's service went before enlisting for another month but they charged me without my consent despite that. I want to cancel my account and get a refund of the 2nd charge and the amount they charged me from my card today. How do I go about doing that? Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the responses thus far- I removed the saved CC details on PM as soon as I received the text today about the coming month's charge- but I doubt that'll mean I cancelled the coming months service.
Does both these show as credits in your self serve account with a leftover credit after your recent renewal?

No problem. Getting credited back is not an easy process because the service does not come with refunds and so it has to be assessed on a case by case basis. The refund mechanism is not straightforward. It could take some time even if the moderators side with you. Generally they are very fair about things recognizing that if they applied the terms of service strictly, nobody would get anything back.

I remember specifically indicating that I did not want to autopay- I was under the impression that PM sims are like the sims in Europe where you can pay month by month and theres no contract. There's been two charges on my CC for the same day for activation. I had activated online.
Not sure what happen but go into Self Serve and remove autopay and delete your CC information. That will stop the automatic debiting. PM is a prepaid service so you pay for the 30 day plan prior to using it but if you lapse a payment it automatically suspends your account for up tp 90 days at which time if there is not enough funds in the account for renewal, it will cancel the account and you will loose your number.
How were you attempting to contact you European family?
What plan did you sign up for and what were the charges to your CC?
Can you post a screenshot of your payment history, block out personal; information.

@arkstan, did you do the activation online yourself or was this activation at a retail store? I am totally certain that with online activation, there is an option towards the end to deselect auto pay when a credit card is used to activate the service. In any event, if you want to try your luck at getting a refund, you will need to plead your case with the moderatore team. The moderator team can be reached via private message using this link. Please include in the private message account number and PIN code along with a detailed description of the issue and the required resolution. This will speed up problem resolution significantly. You should have disable the autopay on your account. But it is too late to stop it now. PM is a prepaid service. All Canadian prepaid service does not have refurnd.
You can disable the autopay and delete you credit card now and stay for another 30 days.
You can send a private message to moderator to ask for a refund. But it may take over 3 months to get a refund if moderator agrees to refund your plan fee.

Hi, sorry things are not going to your liking. May I ask why you do not wish to stay with PM?
The autopay feature which is required to be activated by you must have been done on account setup, otherwise it is not possible for them to charge your CC.
What makes you think you were double charge on activation? Do you see 2 charges on your CC for the same day? If so did you activate instore or online? When when you activated, was there a problem where you had to start over?
PM is a prepaid service so you pay for the 30/90 day plan prior to its use. With all prepaid plans, refunds are not in the contract. To stop getting charges go to your self serve and remove the autopay feature.
