Hi there!

I need your help as I'm very unfamiliar with band frequencies. Can someone kindly check for me if public mobile is compatible with dokiwatch frequencies? Thank you. I'm wondering if also can make voice calls

@ciggz no worries.

As long as the specs they provided are accurate and it supports the proper UMTS bands for voice calls, you'll be fine in Calgary. You'll be using the Telus network so coverage should be great in most places!

@sheytoon  Oh I see. I'm getting the dokipal. We're fom Calgary so I'm hoping we got good coverage. Would you recommend PM then? I just want talk and data for a reasonable price and good speed. Thanks again for explaining. Helps a lot this clueless mom 😄

@ciggz please clarify which product you're looking at. Dokipal and Dokiwatch S are listed in different tables for compatibility. Their website has conflicting information about what bands are supported for each product.

Can you contact them directly to be sure? Whatever you buy must support UMTS/WCDMA Band 2 (1900 MHz) and Band 5 (850 MHz).

As for your other questions, you would get LTE speeds when in coverage of LTE frequencies. It's location dependent, but since it doesn't have any low-band LTE capability, you would have a hard time getting LTE inside most schools.

VOIP data calls, like WhatsApp or voip.ms are totally dependent on the operating system of the watch. If they allow you to install and configure such services, they will work.

Keep in mind VOIP calls on data work best on LTE technology, regardless of LTE speeds.

This watch isn't going to work with PM since it's using Telus/Bell towers

@ciggz3G band are usually faster than Public Mobile's capped LTE speed.. however the speed is dependent on how many slots Telus tower at where the phone is are made available to the watch (something that is out of your control).

Thank you! I guess I meant like voice talk using just data as opposed to cellular voice.

Will I be getting LTE speeds? I appreciate your help. I wanted to make sure it will work with my kids watch when I get it.

@ciggz it's compatible but doesn't have all the LTE bands. That means data might be slower than expected. See here:

Regular voice calls are supported. What do you mean by voip exactly?
