Can anyone use tethering and/or hotspot on the prepaid plans?
In response to my message to the moderation team, I got the following:
@CS_Agent wrote:Thank you for reaching out to us! I do understand your concern regarding the hotspot functionality and I may tell you more about it.
Please note that at this time, tethering and mobile hotspot services are not available on the prepaid platform due to a restriction on the network. Until the restriction can be lifted, mobile hotspot or tethering will not work.
If the restriction is lifted, the mobile hotspot and tethering services will automatically become available with no configuration changes needed on the device.
I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Have yourself a great weekend!
Solved! Go to Solution.

LOL, complete false B.S. information that you were given. There has never been restriction on Wi-Fi hotspot, save for a temporary disruption in the service which forced customers to use a different APN than the default until the situation was fixed.

It has never been an issue for me. I moved from koodo prepaid and have had 2 phones since with no issue, and I never touched the APN settings.

Wow, that's so odd. I didn't touch the APN information when I switched from Koodo.

I alwasy had "dun" in the APN settings.
Tethering stopped working for me on Tuesday, when I returned from the US. It seems to work OK now.

I can only conclude that the moderator was either confused or misinformed.
They're great at keeping our little community in order, but, still, only human. 😄

Zero problems here. What brand and model of phone are you using?

Worked for me, turned on mobile hotspot and tethering on my s7. Connected with my laptop and worked. Although my laptop intially said no internet access, but as soon as I typed in a domain name it worked.
