Degraded Voice Connection Notification

joy_731

Hi all,

I received a text from Public Mobile yesterday notifying me that due to a network upgrade, "after June 3rd, your device may lose or experience a degraded voice connection" and offering a switch to a TELUS plan. Has anyone else received this message, and any idea if it's legitimate? Is it more to do with device compatibility than phone plan?

Thanks!

Yes indeed it is old. You for sure want to get something newer. So, as I mentioned before about plan wise, there was another chap here who had the $25 1GB 3G plan. Well, there is a $25 5GB 4G plan that "might" be in your list of options if you look at changing plans on the app. You don't have to change to it, I'm just saying if you look, the option might be there. Something to consider.

Oh. This just means that Public Mobile, like every other provider in Canada, are slowly moving away from the 3G network. This is nothing new. Depending on what phone you have, you may just need to upgrade the phone.

Older phones that work primarily on 3G will have issues. Here is, a somewhat outdated list, of what phones you can use on Public Mobile.

Depending on what phone you have and what plan you have, might want to look at your options.
