Taking pictures with your phone's camera doesn't require data.   It will use data if you want to email pictures to friends put them in instagram or facebook. Can't say how much, depends on resolution and compression and how many you upload.  If you send pics to friends by MMS, that type of message doesn't use up your plan data amount.

PM does not charge data usage when you send and receive picture MMS.

If you don't watch any video on your phone, you can start with the $15 plan with 250MB data.  There is no data overage charge on PM because PM service is prepaid. Data service will stop when your data runs out before the end of current billing cycle.  If you found out that you used up your 250MB data early, you can switch to the $25 plan with 1GB data.

Please note that the $15 plan has only 100 CW minutes and unlimited incoming.  If 100 minutes is not enough, you should get the $25 unlimited minutes + 1GB plan.

Hi, If you choose a small data plan, try it to see if it is enough for your needs. There is no worry of extra data charges with pre-paid , when you run out of data it just stops until your next cycle.

Thanks. You just answered a question I was about to post.

If you use wi-fi, you can use it to get an idea of your data usage.  Until recently, I have never used or needed data on my phone.  If I needed directions to go somewhere, I'd set it up before I left home and use offline mode.  Most places I visit have wi-fi available.  Now I have the $15 a month plan with auto top-up and get 250MB every 30 days.  So far, I've only reached my limit once and that's when I was away travelling.

@suz  Online searches don't use much. Pictures depend on the resolution used typical is 2MB and it only requires data if you store/retrieve them on the cloud and not locally on your phone. The best way to determine your data usage if you have WiFi at home is to turn on the data usage feature on your phone and monitor how much data is used by each task.

If you are trying to determine what plan to choose you can start of with the $25.00 plan that gives you 1GB and after 30 days decide to keep it or downgrade to the $15 plan that gives you 250 MB.

Your photo sizes depend on your phone device itself (different cameras provide different resolution capacities) as well as the actual settings you choose (ie. Image Size and Quality) for your camera app on your phone.

What is the make and model of your device? You can find the specs easily online at various websites.

That's a very open question with many variables.

I would suggest you start by purchasing a plan with a data amount that you believe might meet your needs. You can then down-grade your plan (or upgrade) depending on your personal usage.

Start with 1GB and go from there :).

Good luck!~
