Lots of good Technical advice above but sometimes it is just the way it is... we did a 3month trip across Canada (Vancouver Island to Cape Breton Island ).  Many times we did not have data .. and not always in remote areas ( a bunch of cell towers close together can compromise signal reception . Watch the LTE / Service bars on the top panel of the phone. Also some phones don't have the greatest radio antennas to pick up 3g or 4g signal. Even the building or car you are in can make a difference . Network Cell Info Lite & Wifi is a free Android app that you can install to check these variable out.

@Mandaxox

If you have problems setting the APN for the phone.

You might want to go to a local Telus/Koodo store and have them check the APN @softech recommendation.

There are also some alternatives to the above provided APN. Remember to save the settings when done, select the proper APN, go in and out of airplane mode to use the new settings. See how that looks first.

@Mandaxox

Your phone should have enough compatible band for a stable data connection

Any chance you notice the data issue is particular worse on some app and maybe better on others?

I suggest you to start with a Reset All Network on your phone to see if it helps

If not, check the APN settings, compare it with below:

APN: sp.mb.com

MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc

           (might need to include dun for hotspot)

APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled

@Mandaxox - that shouldn't happen if you have a compatible phone, have data left and the network is up and running.

Perform a Reset of your device's Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, VPN and APN settings, and connected Bluetooth devices that you've used before.

Iphone:

To Reset Network Settings, begin by opening the Settings app. Next, tap General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. and enter your passcode.

Your iPhone will reset network settings and restart itself.

android:

Find and tap Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options > Reset network settings.

If still issues, can you try your SIM into another compatible phone to test for a while to rule out the phone.

Huawei P20 Pro  CLT L04.  Sorry lol I think that's what you were asking about? It doesn't work most of the time I should probably say!

@Mandaxox   even you are on 3G speed plan, your can still use the 4G /LTE network.  And likely you phone is already using it if you have it defaulted to Automatic network type

What exact band and model is your phone ?  Wonder if your phone has fewer compatibles bands that we PM uses

What make and model is the phone? It might be APN settings. You're most likely actually on the 4G network but that would also depend on the phone and settings.
