I purchased the unlimited text messaging for my daughter. She's already gone over. I'm trying to figure out if sms text s are considered data

that is the wrong addon to buy and it won't work if you are not in US

ask PM to reverse it and put the money back to your account as a credit, the you can buy the Canada data, 1GB for $10, or 5GB for $20. Don't buy too much as it is pretty must just to be used from the day you buy till the next renewal date

to ask to reverse the wrong purchase, Simply open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA  code when login, use email to receive code instead of SMS if you cannot receive the text on the phone.)    When open Chatbot ticket, Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen       

But if you have trouble using Chatbot to open ticket, then message PM using this link:

I purchased this... Unlimited U.S. Talk, Text and 5GB Data

Is it still applicable for using data in Canada?  If not how can we fix it

Sorry, but roaming data cannot be used in Canada.

basic SMS text does not use data, only iMessage or RCS require data.
