I can't help but wonder how our PM plans are charged across Canada. I live in Western PEI and have, at a guess, less than 50% of my area with any cell/data service yet I assume my plan costs the same as areas that have full coverage and that hardly seems to be fair. I'm noticing that areas that had service in the last 10 years now have nothing. I realize we need our infrastructure updated, so let our plan cost reflect that lack of service.

@Johnmacwilliams , that is not how pricing works. If this were the case, you could buy a product from a retailer go back and tell them that it doesn't perform to expectations and seek some sort of discount to match the shortfall in expectations. If this service genuinely does not work in your local area, it behooves you to seek alternatives that will function better. At the end of the day, it is hard for one product to be the ideal solution for everybody. This is why the marketplace offers choice.

We all use the same towers here, so no one has service, very large areas that did have coverage in the past, although no great, are now no service zones. I guess my goal isn't a reduction in plan cost, just trying maybe to prod some upgrades in our infrastructure.

@Johnmacwilliams Maybe I am misunderstanding, are you saying that no company has reliable coverage where you are? What plan do you have now? What do you feel is a fair price to pay for 50% coverage in your area? Telus coverage map shows all of the island covered by at least 4G. As this clearly isn't accurate, have you complained about this to PM?

No one has service but my point is that we're paying the same, maybe more, for a phone/data plan that has no service. I'd glad pay my monthly and more if I could actually get service. I'm a geocacher, use my phone. I could get service 7-10 years ago in places that I can't today, it's(service)degraded that much

@Johnmacwilliams check out the locations of cell antennas in your area: https://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html
Green and blue are Telus and Bell respectively, that you would have access to.

PM uses other providers towers for service. I guess customers of other providers have the same issue as you in certain areas.
Did you talk with customers of other providers how is their service and coverage?
