I have been a customer for six years. I don’t live in Canada, but I need to keep the number for contact info/Whatsapp. I am paying $30 a month and would like to change for a lower price subscription since I use zero of the services - only the number. 

In my account I can only upgrade. 
I tried with the bots and numerous times to leave a ticket, but it keeps going to a 404 and there’s no option to continue.

I will not pay $30 indefinitely.

Are there any suggestions out there for how to get a cheaper rate through public mobile (process to get customer service to help?) or should I change to another carrier and transfer my number even though I’m abroad?

Public mobile doesn’t even allow me to receive SMS so It’s difficult to do these changes. I’m just tired of wasting money and after hours of trying to work this out, I’m super annoyed. 

To clarify: I want to keep my current phone number, but pay less than $30/month.

Ideally if I could at least receive SMS - or call out without using another service , that would be great.

Looking for 1) How to change to a cheaper service on PM

2) Other good options to change to if I can’t (Preferably with my current phone number)

I used to have the $19 a month plan, and just upgrade when I was in Canada - but the last time there was no option to change back, and I have been checking repeatedly and trying to ask for other options. There seem to be none on offer for me. 
i’m going to approach Telus to see if I can switch and keep my number otherwise I’m just gonna let it go and choose an international calling option. It’s annoying that for more than $300 a year, I can’t even receive text messages in 2025 when I’m outside of certain areas in Canada. It’s far too much to just pay for a phone number an extremely frustrating when you’re trying to confirm things.

you don't have any plan lower than $30?

Unfortunately, plan changing is more restricted now for everyone.  Downgrading is possible for most of us but it is even more challenging for people with plans $30 or below.  

If you like, you might want to consider the  $100/year  plan offered by Telus which includes 2GB per month for a year.  After a year, you can consider to port it back to Public Mobile for the $19 plan with 1GB per month (assuming the plan still there)
