Hi
I've been with PM for a while and although my plan includes data I have never been able to get it working on my phone.
I've looked at all the posts, tried to manually input the APN settings, but the one thing I'm stumped on, is:
when I go to Settings > More > Mobile Networks > APNs > Public Mobile>
the category APN enable/disable is in grey and I cannot move it from off to on
.....why?

Seems like an unlikely fix, too simple, but you could try this:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thecellguide.com/no-service-or-emergency-calls-only-on-moto-g-11/amp

I have a Moto G3 and these match mine.

they are greyed out on my phone.
I simply do not understand where I am going wrong.
I had the same phone before with Virgin and never had any problem with data at all

Edit: Make sure that Mobile Networks is set to Automatic and restart your phone and see if that makes a difference before resetting.
@cmd73 Then maybe best to do a factory reset and start over. Make sure you backup any data on your phone before resetting your phone to factory defaults.

@cmd73Was the G previously on another provider? If so do you still have that SIM card.. put that in and see if you can edit / enable it.. and swap the SIM card without powering off. Android is so cobbled together it does strange things.

@cmd73 If they are greyed out don't worry about them they will get auto set. Just select the APN and reset your phone. Does it work?

Did you check your phone to make sure its compatible?
You can check here if you havent already: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-started

@cmd73 does the data addon show in selfserve in plan and addons? i'm assuming it will say 0/x mb
I would also try a network settings reset
also do you see lte in the top bar? are you able to receive/send mms?
i would try sim in different phone, this could help isolate a hardware vs account issue
are you able to manually add a new apn?

@cmd73 Best to reset the APN settings to default and start over from scratch. To setup the APN settings on that phone do the following:
Restoring default APN settings will appear briefly. Restart your phone and if necessary add the sp.mb.com Public Mobile entry as follows:
Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: GID
MVNO value: 4D4F
Don't forget to save these settings and then select this APN as the active one.
Hope this helps!

I am using my PM $10 50/50 plan on Moto G first generation with data enabled. I can send and receive picture MMS without playing with the APN. All I did was enable data and restart Moto G.

Hi,
no not a silly question...I did...by going to Settings > Data usage > Mobile Data (on)
but nothing happens 😞

Did you turn on the data on your phone, this might be silly question, but a lot of people forgot to turn on.
