Can't send SMS messages

Blandest

Hey,

I just hard reset my LG G4 (LG-H812).  It is unlocked. I've used it on Public Mobile in the past without issue, including for SMS.

But now SMS are not working when sending them to some people.  The issue is intermittment.  Some people I can't ever seem to send SMS messages.  Others I can at one time of the day but not others.  By SMS I am just meaning picture messages.

This is unaffected by whether or not I have WiFi turned on or off.

Android version 6

The following are my APN settings:

I am using the Google messages app and I am simply getting the error message of "Not sent. Tap to try again." Tapping many more times does not produce success.

Sometimes after rebooting my phone I am then able to send SMS messages, but this does not always work.

This issue occurs every single day since my hard reset.

Thanks in advance for the help.

@Blandest  As mentioned earlier, if you're having problems with MMS, do double check your APN settings.

However, please realize that since you are saying that you are having difficulties with SMS, that APN settings have nothing do with text messaging.  You could completely wipe out /delete your APN settings and SMS would still work.  In addition, Android Messages does not require any data connection to send SMS messages; a data connection is only required for MMS. In fact, Android Messages does not even have the ability to send messages using an internet connection.

The setting that controls outgoing SMS is called the SMSC.

But since you are able to get things working again some of the time after a restart, I doubt this is a settings issue.

Thanks for the replies all.  What's an example of an app that uses a non MMS platform?

Try a different messaging app, there have been some issues with Android Messages lately. Also when sending/receving these types of messages, make sure data is turned on

I would go a bit further and suggest an app that uses a non MMS platform.  There's so many options out there.
