I am trying to do a new activation, and need to enter the serial number for my old device to transfer my phone number. I can't type letters, only numbers. Does anybody have any ideas? Am I looking at the wrong number? Thanks

And if you roll all mobile phones, internationally, into one batch.....the IMEI number is unique to one phone only. While it could be possible that phone brand A and B “could” both have the same serial number.

Are you supposed to be entering the serial number or the IMEI number? IMEI number has no letters.
+1! The IMEI fields is numbers only regardless of phone model.

In this case @metropublic is absolutely correct. All you need is to check the authorized to port number box. Then enter:
The alternate ph# is optional. It will be entered on your account and can be any phone number but most will choose their home, spouse's, adult childs or parents ph #.

@jhildebrand528 For number porting best and safest way is to use your account number with the previous provider, name on the account and the phone number you want to port.

Use the live chat for activations. They can do it for you.
