Hi there,
My mom and uncle just signed up for public mobile's promo this weekend at Walmart. They both have the $25/1 GB plan and their accounts are active.
However, for some reason they can only make and receive calls but can’t connect to data. Their data doesn’t seem to work.
Any ideas what’s going on?

Apparently, my uncle was able to get his phone settings to work and can connect to data now. Thanks for all the replies!

It was my attempt at "planned obsolescence" for myself. Seems about 80-90% of the iPhone questions here related to data connectivity!

Has anyone else had issues with using iPhone on public mobile’s network? Or are the network settings feature different?
Which iPhone? Everything you need to know about getting data working on an iPhone should be covered in this thread: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Phones-Hardware/FYI-iOS-and-APNs/m-p/323118

A quick update:
My mom went back to Walmart and they were able to fix her phone’s network settings, so she can access data now.
However, it turns out my uncle actually has an iPhone and not a Huawei. Unfortunately, the Walmart rep wasn’t able to get his phone’s network’s setting to work so he still can’t connect to data. She suggested that he try going to the iPhone store to see if they can fix it.
Has anyone else had issues with using iPhone on public mobile’s network? Or are the network settings feature different?
As mentioned, he can make and receive calls but can’t access data. The phone is unlocked but he was with Rogers before switching over to Public.

Also, you can try power off then power on your phone, it helped another guy get his data working again - you can read about it in his post below:

They both came over from Rogers.
My mom’s phone is an LG G2 and my uncle’s phone is Huawei.
How exactly do we check/reset the APN and network settings on the phone?
For the LG phone, do a network reset after changing provider before data working again.
- enable data
- network reset
- restart phone and let PM SIM to setup the APN. If not set, you need to go setting to configure APN manually.
Do the simple thing first for the Huawei phone. Enable data and restart phone.

To check apn
LG2 says
- Tap System settings.
- Scroll down to 'Connectivity,' and then tap Tethering & Networks.
- Scroll down to 'Network ,' and then tap Mobile Networks.
- Tap Access point names.
For the Huawei..I don't know if all are same but here's mine on a P20
Settings
Wireless & networks
Mobile networks
Access point names (APNs)

That plan shows up on their self serve account?
What type of phone is it? Is it new or was it used on another service before? If it's a phone they brought over, they may have to reset the network settings.

Check compatibility. Data mode on.
