tandasat

Hi, how can I make a phone call to Japan? My plan does not include the international call service and the Talk add-on does not include Japan either.
----
Intl long distance Add-On included countries: Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.

What would be your suggestion? Thank you for your help!

Never looked into Hangouts before. Could be a great fix for my need (ie, very short time, almost one off). I will research this a bit more before buying a card. Thanks for suggestion.

That could be an option. Unfortunately, I have to call a restaurant, which would not be tech savvy enough to make that happen. Besides, I cannot contact them without calling them 🙂

Thank you for providing the specific name and the service. I will look into them along with the international calling cards I can find handy.

I dropped those cards from my mind! Accepting this as a solutioon as it seems most straightforward to me.

My post is gone again

Really????

Ok here it is again

Internetcalls is one option

They give 120 free days, which means that you can call japanese landline for free up to 300 minutes per week

After that it is 2 eurocent per minute

They don't have connection fee. They have 5cent phone too phone fee ( if you use the web to call both phone numbers simultaneously, i never do that)

After 120 days They Will withdraw from your balance at 2euroc/min

Minimum purchase Is 10 euros

Very affordable

@tandasatIf you want calling Japan as part of your cell phone service. The option is to upgrade to either Koodo or Telus.

@tandasat  If you have Hangouts Dialer installed on your phone just add some funds to your account and you will be able to call internationally as long as you have Wi-Fi or a data connection available.

@tandasat

As other already said.  The 400 minutes international minutes add-on cannot call Japan.

1.  Use calling card

2.  If your firends in Japan are using WhatsApp, you can call them using WhatsApp over WiFi or mobile data.

I guess because of the long link my message disappeared

Here is a link to compare fees for betamax services http://progx.ch/PROGX_WEB/UK/fee.awp

Those with green checkmark let you configure your native dialer to call our directly

Some will give you 200 or 300 free minues with Japan landline for 90 or 120 days

If you go over you are charged 1-2 cents per minute, and when you finish with freedays, they start charging against your balance.

Its very affordable

Here is what my dialer looks likeScreenshot_20191206-114317.png

Checkout betamax

I used nonoh and internetcalls in the past

They would give you 200 or 300 free minutes per week with Japan landline for120 days, they would start drawing 1-2 cents/minute from the balance only after 120 days or if you go over your 200 or 300 minutes that week, next week the count would reset again. It would cost me 20 euros per year.

Many provide sip configuration so you can dial right from your cell native dialer when on wifi or using data

Only one option. Buy a calling card at one of many retailers.

@tandasat

For years, I used to use Goldline D-call.  Although I've never tried them, keepcalling.ca had slightly lower rates. Neither require an internet connection to make calls. Minutes can be purchased online.

Best bet would be to buy one one of those international calling cards. I think gas stations often sell them.
