I just enabled pre-authorized payments which is not due for 3 days but when I set it up it came out of my bank account immediately. So I've been double charged. How do I get that back?

Yes it sounds like you made a manual Top-Up payment at the same time that you set up your credit card. All you have to do is enter your card details you don't have to enter the amount or anything like that. When entering your payment card details on the website you probably just followed along with the make a payment instructions.
Not really a big deal your renewal is in 3 days and the system will always take from your available funds first before it charges your card on file so now you have nothing to worry about you certainly won't have an autopay failure.
This is also been the preferred method by many regulars here to use formerly "auto pay" but now "pre-authorized payments' as the backup plan and to manually pay your bill a day or two before it's due when you get the reminder text. That always guarantees you will never lose service (except for the new change plan at next renewal glitch going around right now) but otherwise you won't lose service if you happen to forget to pay because you've got a backup plan?
It also gives you the opportunity to look at your account maybe take a screenshot, check your usage, download it and/or make a note of what's on your account that way there's no big surprises after renewal.
Public Mobile can be glitchy and the new self-serve accounts are extra glitchy until maybe one day in the next century they'll iron out all the kinks so it's prudent to take regular screenshots and just monitor your account once a month. That way if you do get a glitch it's easy to fix when you have before and after pictures.

Something doesn't sound right. Did you make a payment when you set it up? How have you been double charged if your renewal is in 3 days?

Log into your self service account and see if the payment is in Available Funds. If yes leave in there and it will be used automatically on the next renewal.
