Any way to get more than 15G/90days?

igalsc

Hi guys.

Is there a way to get more than 15G/90days? What if I need, say, 10G/month? It would be 30G/90days, btu the biggest option when creating a plan is 15G/90days.

So, is there a way to get more?

Thanks,

Igal

@wetcoaster, thanks for reply. I only got to be needing the higher data cap now, so big3 promo of $60/10G back in December. Dual SIM is not an option with iPhones 🙂

@srlawren Freedom is "freedom from mobile". My son has it, and the network coverage is ridiculous. Also, their data becomes 1G/month once you are get off the GTA area

I can get 6G/$40 from Koodo if I accept the ofer, but I would love to have the option to have more data from Public

@igalsc yeah I don't care for FM's network either.  As for your last sentence:  I would love to have a gold-plated Ferrari; unfortunately, neither of those things seem especially likely in the forseeable future.

Looks like you can't have the cake and eat it when it comes to Canadian cell providers.

If you need that amount of data on a regular basis you really should switch to Koodo if / while you can. I don't think that Public Mobile will be going to have higher data brackets at all and it's not likely to get a better deal at Koodo (or the competition for that matter) anytime soon.

@igalsc if you can live with their network, I noticed yesterday when walking through my local mall that Freedom Mobile is still offering their "big gig" 10GB plan for $50.  It might be worth a look if you truly need that much data.  Unfortunately, in Canada, if you want a lot of data on a reliable network, you're going to have to pay [a lot] for it.  😞  You can either choose a cheap price OR a great network, but other than the brief $60/10GB promo frenzy that last December (which analysts don't expect to happen again any time soon) you're not going to get both.  😞

@Korth

it looks nice, until you add voice option, and then you pay $125/m for 10+2G and unlimited calls 😞

You could try to get it as data only plan and get a dual SIM phone with a second line for talk only? 😉

You should have jumped on one of the 10GB/$60 promos by the first and second tiers of the big three in December. PM is a no frills carrier that caters to low to medium data users. One way or the other you'll need to pay for your high data use if you can't curb your use.

Edited to add that I just did the math - assuming you'd go for 10GB LTE / month on Public Mobile (15GB/90days, renewing after 45 days as @Luddite suggested), you are coming up to $120 as well ( province wide talk & text included).

@igalsc

Telus Mobility offers buy-a-phone and bring-a-phone individual plans with large mobile data allocations ...

https://www.telus.com/en/on/mobility/planbuilder?numPeople=1&dataPlanSOC=SDSH1GB25&voicePlanSOC=PYCU...

5GB $45/month, 8GB $60/month, 10+2GB $70/month, 15GB $100/month, 20GB $120/month, 40GB $220/month, $80 $350/month - there even used to be a 100GB $450/month!  Obviously the highest data plans cost far more than a bunch of 1GB $30 Add-Ons ... but the 5GB~20GB rates aren't too bad if you need Big Data.

Bell also offers similar large-data plans, but their prices are higher across the board.  On the Bell network, which doesn't have the coverage and speed you're happy with on the Telus network.

Thanks, @NDesai  and @Luddite

That's sad. I'm happy with the coverage and the speed, so I would hate swithing over to another provider.

Yes, sort of. Robot wink

At Public Mobile you may renew your plan early, but will not receive rewards if you do and get no credit for unused calling/texting. The moderators must do it - after you have deposited the plan cost. I have a friend on the 3G plan mentioned by @NDesai and he renews every 50 - 70 days.

@igalsc Unfortunately, no. You cannot have more data than what's available. Max data on LTE you can choose is 15GB/90 days and max on 3G (capped LTE) plan is 18GB/90 days. However, you can purchase 1GB add-ons but this option would be costly as 1GB add-on costs $30.
