I used some points to add data to my plan. But Public Mobile isn't show up in my available networks. I haven't been able to use any of the data and it runs out in a few days. Please restart my add on time so I can use it or return my points.

I seem to recall that redeeming points for add-ons takes time. Like a couple days. But I'm not sure. Someone else on points can offer their experience.
So you can make and receive calls? You said something about needing data to not miss messages. That sounds like you might be using an iphone. Yes, imessage needs the internet. Whether wifi or cell data. You can set it to send as sms and send as mms but that's outgoing. You are concerned about incoming. I am not an Apple person and this is one of the many reasons why not. I prefer standards-based tech. Not extended proprietary tech. imessage can also use standard sms/mms but you'd have to turn it off and then therefore lose the proprietary features of it.
Click on any little spinner refresh icons you see lower down to make sure you're seeing current info.

No
Does the phone showing not connected to any network at all?
I have home wifi with Telus
Can you make voice calls? Yes
If you don't see Public Mobile in the Mobile network screen, try to reseat the sim card. Turn off the phone first, then take the sim card out for couple mintues, put it back and power up
I did this and still no Public Mobile option for data.
if it still does not show Public Mobile as a choice on the network screen, try to go to another area and test again, it could be a local network issue.
I'm not traveling anywhere, I need thus tinwork at home.
Again, we need to confirm if your phone even connected to PM network before checking the data.
I had a 40G plan that I changed to a 1G plan last month. Normally I get a notification when my bill is paid since either do automatic payments. This time I didn't get a notification which was super annoying because I didn't know that I was on a new billing cycle. The day is different every month and so I used up that 1G before I even knew I was on a new plan. I added another 1 G so I wouldn't miss any important messages but haven't been able to find the data.I see it is on my account and it's still at zero but the time us nearly run out. hope this helps. And I hope you can return thise points.
