Activated new sim but no service at all.

My account is all set up and everything seems good.  My phone is usable with PM.  I set up my apn.  I rebooted the phone with the new sim card.  but I get no service.  PM shows up when I do a search for available networks but when I try to manually register to the Public mobile network  is says "your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"  

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Is your phone unlocked ? You said usable but I wasn't sure. And what kind of phone do you have ?

No nothing works at all.  No service.  Emergency calls only. 

I haven't tried to port in my old number or anything yet.  I was hoping to get the service working first.

Does Data or any other service work at all? If you have just recently switched, wait a few hours for the port to complete.
